February 8th, 2010

Well, the weekend has been a weekend of PROGRESS!!! I made the decision on Friday to cut Jeffrey's pain med's in half. I was afraid of the decision I was making, as I can't feel his pain. But he didn't seem to be in pain, and was sleepin...g ALOT. The physical therapist came in on Friday and sat him up on the bed, and he kinda slept through it, not participating very much. Saturday was the first day of new dosages. He seemed more alert as the weekend progressed.

When I arrived at the hospital this morning (noon) Brian and Debby had been his "babysitters". Arrived to find his trach had been "plugged"...not with the passy muir valve, but completely plugged. If this stay's in for 24 hours and he tolerates it, they will pull out his trach sometime tomorrow, mid morning. Then to top everything off, he would of gone to rehab today, but they didn't have a bed, so hopefully this will happen tomorrow. I will have to get a visitation schedule for this, as he will busy during the day, and I am sure he will not be allowed visitors during this time.

He tested his voice out a little today, the nurse said the first words out of his mouth were not "mama" as I had hoped...lol....but were "uncomfortable"....he has been squirming like a worm in that bed....getting cabin fever...ready to get up and go!!!!

Many thanks go out to anyone, and everyone that has done the smallest thing to benefit Jeffrey. The prayers, cards, visits etc. ANYTHING!!! nothing has gone unnoticed! and will never be forgotten. I love each and everyone of you. The Lord has been good to us so far, and will continue to be good to us as he starts rehab. He isn't through with him yet! I just can't wait to see what he has in store for him!

Love you all!
