I know, I have been VERY slack over the last couple of days. But honestly, since Jeffrey is in a room, without visitation restrictions, I find it hard to SIT down and make time for updating. I spent the night this last weekend, on Saturda...y because of the snow. I didn't sleep AT ALL, and I am just beginning to catch back up from that.
Since Jeffrey has been moved to an Intermediate Care Room, there have been many positive changes. Jeffrey's personality is returning, more and more every day. He get's his meds daily at 10, 2, 6 then 10, 2, 6 so it seems that he is "more" awake around an hour and a half before each of these. He's been "throwing" a wet rag to people, to the point Laura went out and bought him some Nerf Balls and Toy's...lol....He's even acted like he was going to hit you with the rag, the way you would when you "pop" someone with it.
He's totally off the respirator now. All he's receiving is oxygen and vaporized air for moisture. Tomorrow the speech therapist is suppose to come in, and put what they call some type of passy in his trach, which will basically cut off the air flow through that hole, allowing sound to come out through his mouth.
He's had MANY visitors, and gives each special one a BIG GRIN as soon as he see's them.
The rehab doctors came in and said he was a good candiate for rehab but the want his to be "off" of some of his things....they don't want to have to "suction" him through his trach, because he still does have some "secretions" (SNOT) but as soon as he can, he'll be moved down there.
The phycial therapist came to evaluate him this afternoon, and sat him up on the edge of the bed, and it completely WORE HIM OUT!!! But he did follow some commands. As soon as he is able he will also begin physical therapy.
Well, that's all for now, I'm going to HIT THE HAY again, EARLY!!!
Love you all,
Gwyn
