Well, day 10 in ICU! It's been a long road, but I think we are beginning to see some light. This morning I had an appointment with a social worker. So me and mama went to this, and Debby and Lisa (David Curtis's mom) stayed with him the ...whole time. While they were there he opened his eyes and was looking around the room. I can imagine the thoughts going through his head. He was probably wondering where the heck am I? Am I dead or alive. She said he was trying to move his lip's, there again, no sound coming out, because of the trach, so he probably was wondering again, Am I dead or alive. He became overwhelmed, coughing and basically having a anxiety attack. They sedated him and gave him something to "calm down". When Debby asked him was he in pain, and if he was to squeeze twice, he did. But the nurse wanted better reassurance...He asked him to give him a thumbs up, if he was in pain, and he did. So out like a light, with a few coughing spells during the day.

When Jeff visited tonight, he was alert, eyes stayed open for about 5 or more minutes. We talked to him, and tried to explained things, calmly, and he didn't go into a fit, like he had in the AM.

He was resting well, and we left around 7.

Keep the prayers coming, they are working.
