I will let his friends know when they are able to come visit Jeffrey. He's had many visitors over the course of the last 2 days, and they have mostly been family members, but it was suggested tonight, by one of his nurses, that as a mom to... a mom, to try to taper some of the visits off, just a little. He was having a little too many visitors right now. And since he's not even fully awake, he'll never remember that we were there right now, even though he does appear to be aware at that moment, the meds he's on act almost like an amnesiac type drug. He'll need each and everyone of you more when he's able to enjoy your company. And i promise I will post as soon as that is permissible. Thanks for understanding.

Well, it's been a long day. Just getting home good. We found out the hard way tonight that there was a different visiting schedule than we had been informed of earlier, so we stayed later. Jeff went back to work today, and after a long day of work, and calling me all day, he ventured out tonight to Greenville to see "his boy" tonight. When he got there, we found out they have "shift change" from 6:30 to 7:30, and do all of the vitals and stuff in this time, so they don't allow visitors...Well, needless to say, Jeff wasn't happy....He is not a patient man..and by the time he and Jeremy got out, he had a line of about 5 other people that wanted to see him...We all wrapped it up and left around 9:00.

Today was a good day. Jeffrey is showing more and more "strength" in his squeeze. He gives a thumbs up, when you ask him too. This morning when I posted that the nurse had called about Jeffrey's episode during the night with his lung, I think I didn't understand something right, or they just assumed I knew what they were talking about. But during the night last night, Jeffrey's left lung deflated (I guess that's the word for it) and they put a chest tube in to re inflate it. The nurse told me tonight that that tube will come out as soon as the fluid quits draining out of the tube. He still currently has the breathing tube in, but he is breathing on his own, with a little bit of pressure, and some oxygen still going in (I think I put that right) but as they decrease the oxygen going in, this will allow them to see if he will be alright off of it. They don't want to take the tube out prematurely, and have to put it back in. So hopefully that will happen SOON. But he has come down off of his sedation meds just enough to know that he has that tube somewhere he doesn't want it, and "coughs" every now and then and try's to reach for it, if given a chance. Because of this, this is why he is still in a "drug" induced sleep, as we put it to Hayleigh and Caroline.

We had noticed some swelling around Jeffrey's left elbow. I couldn't see any "defined" looking elbow. It was swollen and puffy. Well, they ordered xrays, and they were finally done one him tonight. I just called the nurse when I got home, and she said the elbow DOES appear fractured. I don't know how much or bad, because what she told me was "off the record" We'll find out more tomorrow. By then they should have read the forearm and the wrist xrays also. We'll wait and see.

When the nurse came in today, and looked at his eyes (pupils and reactions) everything was normal. His pupils were "really small" (cause he's drugged up) and the reaction to light was normal. His swelling will go down naturally.

The "neck" person came in today, and removed the C collar that was placed on him Saturday, and put a more cushioned collar on him, that he will actually have to wear for a month or so. This too will heal itself.

I will say this again, as I said it to Keul tonight. He wanted to send a "condensed text message" to some of the guys with the fire department, and I couldn't think of nothing short enough to put in 160 characters except this. At this point I don't think Jeffrey has ANY life threatening injuries. Life Altering? Maybe. We will just have to take it one day at a time. We'll see and learn more as the day's go by and he becomes more alert after the sleepy meds are gone. I am on the positive side, as God still has plans for Jeffrey. He ain't through with him yet.

I said I'd tell you little things that have happened throughout this from beginning to now that have been "God Things" and this is the first one that comes to mind. Friday night/Saturday morning when Jeffrey wrecked, he was alone for around an hour and a half (that we know of) The first person that found him, knew him. He was on his way "out" to go fishing. He had already met a coupld of cars that hadn't even seen Jeffrey, as you couldn't see over that far in that direction. It was a miracle he had been coming from that way, and noticed the truck, off the road, and down, not in good view. After calling 911, we understand he called a fellow firefighter to see if he could do anything for him, since he was pinned in, he basically couldn't. While all of this was transpiring a few of Little Swift Creek VFD knew this should be their call. But instead Tri-Comm. was called. It was right on the division line, but it was actually the fire department that Jeffrey belongs to, our district. It should of been "his brothers" coming to find him. But God Knew that none of them needed to see Jeffrey in this shape. Shucks, as professional as these guys are, most of them would not have been able to hold it together, because of who it was. They were NOT initially dispatched, but a few heard the call, knew it was theirs, knew they should call it in and let the dispatcher know, but decided NOT to intervene. Just let it be. They got it, let them handle it. They are there, time would be lost. Unbeknownst to any of them that it was Jeffrey, their own brother. Just another God Thing....

I'll keep you posted, it's late. Hope I don't put you to sleep.
